Click here to view this lot Very fine handmade (Persian) carpet from Meshed, situated in north-east Iran in the province Khorasan.The Meshed (Mashad) carpets are famous on carpet markets from all over the world for their excellent quality.Usually large carpets with medallions are made.The quality of the wool from Khorasan is recognizable by the softness.The Meshad carpets are always very strong, thick carpets with large dimensions, and have a red base colour. This Meshed carpet is made in in Bafandegan, the specified name on the carpet.This translates to: "Group of people making carpets", the factory in the Meshed.The base of the carpet is wool, the knotting density is approx. knots/m².The pole is painted with natural dyes, and the warp is in cotton.The measurements are 252 x 365 cm. The carpet comes from a chateau in the north of France.Judging by its quality, the carpet was most probably laying in one of the lesser frequented foyers of the chateau.The carpet has slight damage to the edge and is in a very little used and very good condition.
