Hello! I'm a 4th year medical student at a "Russell Group"university in London, currently completing an MSc in Cardiovascular Research in my intercalating year. I teach content of GCSE grade and below: currently I tutor Maths and Science to students in London with all of my students attaining A or A* in their GCSEs thus far. For my next year of medical school I have been placed in St Richard's Hospital, Chichester and am keen to continue tutoring whilst I am placed here (from September - May ). I am a strong believer in students understanding what they are taught rather than memorising/rote learning for their exams, it prepares them much better for *any* kind of assessment, and for the stages beyond GCSE: laying solid foundations. I have seen many students, even at university level, who failed to grasp the basics of a topic at school, and those gaps in knowledge accumulate to form gaping holes which become insurmountable in the face of more complex ideas. Because of this, I have found tutoring (for the students) to be more beneficial when it has started earlier in the year, rather than a crash course weeks before the exam. Having said that, I've done my exams *relatively* recently, I can offer tips and tricks to apply their knowledge to maximise marks. Being one of the younger tutors (22), I have found students are more comfortable and are less embarrassed about sharing what they are struggling with. As I am unsure about permission to tutor at NHS accommodation, I would teach at a location of your choosing, a reasonable distance from St Richard's (PO19 6SE), however I can speak to the hospital admin about using the space closer to my placement date. I have been playing the drums since I was ), and teaching since . I currently play in an 80s rock covers band ("DeLorean"), as well as depping for "Run for Cover" and "Groove-X".
