He is best known for his theoretical work in connection with the Bauhaus and his coloured leather. Between and Itten taught at the Bauhaus. In he founded the Johannes Ittenschule in Berlin.The Bauhaus was a training for artists, craftsmen and architects from till that was first located in Weimar, then Dessau and later another year in Berlin.
