MYFORD (RODNEY-TYPE) MILLER PROJECT.
These immaculate but unfinished items came with a very expensive ML7. The previous owner was a talented modelling engineer, but his widow had no idea what they were. They are, I think, part of a Rodney- type milling machine. These lathe-mounted millers are rarely advertised and always expensive. If you want to build your own version, read on. The photos show two robust parts made from machined aluminium plate of several thicknesses, and held together with setscrews in tapped holes.. The first part locates vertically on the lathe bed and is fixed with two bolts. The second part has two t-slot fixings, each with two t-bolts Also included is a splined shaft & gear wheel assembly plus a splined socket, probably intended to transmit the drive from the lathe spindle. I have obtained details of the Rodney Mill to assist the buyer in finishing this worthwhile project.. Having my own milling equipment, I have no incentive to finish his work.
