Sturdy Pelham Bit with Ported Mouthpiece in Crawley

The Pelham bit on a horse or pony combines the action of a snaffle bit and a curb bit.. By riding your horse with two pairs of reins you can ride most of the time with the snaffle with light hands but engage more control with the curb action if your horse is strong and runs away a little. This pelham has stainless steel 125 mm. cheeks and a 25 mm. ported 15 mm. thick barrel in nickel or sweet iron, (we believe), and comes with a curb chain. Size: mm. Used but in very good condition.

The Pelham bit is often used for horses that prove too strong in a snaffle, the Pelham is a very popular bit. The Pelham should theoretically be used with 2 reins, the first rein is attached to the snaffle rein, and the second rein attached to the ring at the bottom of the shank. The curb chain should be fitted so that the curb chain tightens when the second rein is brought into play, but there must be a bit of give so not to tighten up straight away. Rubber Mouthpieces are a warmer feel to the horse's mouth, and slightly thicker. The Mullen is slightly curved. Size: mm. Stainless steel 145 mm. cheek. Used but in good condition.
