- Published in Amsterdam - By Isaak Tirion and Jacobus Loveringh - The original sheep leather binding is slightly torn at the top (see photo), though is still wonderful. It has the usual water stains and the back cover needs some paper (the photos give a good impression). The book block is uncut and the binding is good. The photos show that the explanation is elaborate. Only a few lines from the bible per page and an almost complete page with explanation of that text. The text of this book from is completely in the current Roman letters, so easy readable.Halfway the 18th century, a unique Bible explanation was published in The Netherlands: the ‘Verklaring van de Geheele Heilige Schrift, door eenigen van de voornaamste Engelsche Godgeleerden’. The voluminous work got its name from the theologians that contributed the most to the first volumes: Patrick, Polus en Wels. ‘Patrick, Polus en Wels’ distinguishes itself from, for example, Matthew Henry by the more rational-exegetical explanation.. Where Henry often moves quickly to practical lessons from the Bible text, this comment goes more deeply into the meaning of the words and events. Will be shipped with registration. Read more
