THIS IS AN INTERESTING OLD TEA CADDY THAT NEEDS A LITTLE TLC TO THE LID WHICH, ALTHOUGH CONTEMPORARY WITH THE CADDY POT, NEEDS PERHAPS A SILVERSMITH (OR SOMEONE HANDY), TO REALIGN THE RIM WHICH HAS BENT A LITTLE OVER THE YEARS PREVENTING A CLOSE FIT ON CLOSING. THIS ASPECT, THOUGH, WOULD NOT TAKE MUCH TO DO. AT THE MOMENT THE LID DOES NOT FIT CLOSELY OR TIGHTLY. THE CADDY IS DATED IN A CENTRAL CARTOUCHE AREA WHICH ALSO SHOWS THE ORIGINAL OWNERS INITIALS (D.G). THE TEA CADDY WAS MADE JUST TWO YEARS AFTER AT THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO AND, APART FROM THE SMALL ISSUES ABOVE, THE ITEM HAS VERY FEW MINI DINGS AND MARKS WHICH ONE HAS TO EXPECT ON A ITEM NEARLY 200 YEARS OLD.
