FOR SALE A LARGE AND HEAVY GEORGIAN SOLID SILVER ROCOCO TWO-HANDLED BOWL HALLMARKED FOR LONDON, . THIS IS A FABULOUS BOWL WITH THE ORIGINAL GILDING INSIDE. IT IS IN QUITE MINT CONDITION WITH NO DINGS, DENTS, DAMAGE OR RESTORATION. THERE ARE ONLY VERY LIGHT SURFACE MARKS TO ACCOUNT FOR IT'S ALMOST 200 YEARS OF LIFE TO DATE. THE MAKERS MARK IS A LITTLE RUBBED BUT I BELIEVE IT TO BE BY WILLIAM EATON WHO WAS AN IMPORTANT SILVERSMITH OF THE TIME. THE BOWL IS MADE FROM A HEAVY-GAUGE OF SILVER AND THE QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP IS ABSOLUTELY EXQUISITE. THE BOWL COULD BE USED FOR A VARIETY OF PURPOSES INCLUDING FOR FRUIT SUCH AS STRAWBERRIES OR GRAPES, ETC. THE DESIGN IS ROCOCO-INSPIRED WITH A SHELL AND FOLIATE RELIEF INTERSPERSED WITH A GADROON-EDGING. THERE IS AN ACANTHUS LEAF RELIEF TO THE HANDLES AND A FLUTED SURROUND TO THE BASE.
