Sigma 400mm prime lens for Nikon

A nice prime lens that has only cosmetic faults (rubbed paint in places). It has good optics and will fit F mount Nikon DSLRs. I have used it on my D to good effect. Its obviously fully manual but returns nice results. It has a tripod mount and a sliding lens hood.

Nikon 400mm f/2.8 AF-I ED-IF Lens

For sale is my Nikon 400mm  f/2.8 AF-I prime lens.  I have used this lens to shoot sports events over the last few years.  It's pin sharp at 2.8 and in good working order.  Cosmetically the lens body has a few marks as shown in the pictures but in general the lens body is in decent condition.  The glass is perfectly clean with no haze, fungus etc.  The lens comes with the original drop in filter, lens hood and the original nikon hard case.   When I purchased this lens I was unsure how it compared to the newer AF-S but what I can tell you now I have the AF-S that there are very few differences.  The Autofocus on the AF-I is surprisingly snappy and I have no issues using this lens to shoot premier league football etc.  The main difference with this lens and the newer versions is the weight. This lens is as extraordinarily good as it was expensive, Optically it is as perfect as I can see, even wide open! AF is fast and furious. The performance of the AF-I is just about perfect. It is completely sharp across the entire field at every aperture. Specified as 3.3m or 12 feet, but it actually focuses as close as ten short feet. That's closer than the newer AF-S and newest AF-S II versions.   It is built like a tank, and the AF selector ring even has a rubberized, waterproof cover over that ring's lock release, just like a piece of military hardware.
