Rupert, Male, Collie - Shrewsbury

Rupert, Male, Collie - Shrewsbury

We are now ready to take applications for Rupert. He is our beautiful 4 month old collie pup (as of ). Rupert will need an experienced collie home where he will (eventually) get lots of exercise, mental stimulation and the chance to use up both his energy and his intelligence! Please do not apply for Rupert if you work long hours or don’t have the time, space and energy for a working breed. Please also note the redecoration of the plastic bed (teething!) He is only a baby, so this is inevitable. Only apply if you can cater for every life-stage. Can you offer this sweet little pup his pawfect furever home? Joseph, Male, Collie - Shrewsbury

Joseph, Male, Collie - Shrewsbury

Joseph is a very sweet natured and affectionate collie boy who likes nothing more than cuddles and fuss. We feel he is probably an ex farm dog from his behaviour and preferences. As you can see, he does rather love his bed in the hay! A super friendly boy, he loves playing with some of the other dogs, the girls especially. Some of the boys spook him so probably best as the only boy in a home. However. it would be lovely to see him have a sister to play with, as he really does enjoy playing with another dog given the chance. We don’t normally insist on this, but we feel Joseph needs a home with a garden. He is wary of walking on the lead still and traffic is a bit scary for him. He can get quite timid so a good secure garden is a must at least in the early days whilst he settles in with you and learns to live in a home environment. Sometimes even at kennels he just wants to walk a short distance and then sit and be stroked. He is a quiet boy and we feel he would like a garden to be safe in at first before he meets too much of the big bad world. He would possibly prefer not to be bothered with young children either. He loves fuss and attention, but as he is quite shy, so it would be better for him not to have to contend with young kids. He will also do best in a home where he has company, preferably with another dog (ideally female) and where he is not at home alone too much, too often. Joseph possibly has an issue with his eyes. His pupils seem quite enlarged and if you are a collie lover, you will know that it is not especially unusual for a collie to have eye problems. We will get this checked out thoroughly in due course. Joseph is a fabulous young lad and it would be great to see him getting the cuddles and fuss that he so loves in his own Furever Home. In summary Joseph’s ideal home will be a quiet adult home with a lovely secure garden in a quiet part of the world. If he can share that home with a female friendly dog, he would be very happy as he loves to play with other female dogs. He can be a bit overwhelmed by boys. His shy and quiet nature will need patience, calm and the chance to settle in and relax. Please read our article 'Are You Really Ready To Adopt A Rescue Dog?' before you apply. Thank you! Bertie, Male, Terrier x - Shrewsbury

Bertie, Male, Terrier x - Shrewsbury

Bertie is a very friendly small terrier boy with a cheeky little character. The vet feels he is around 3 years of age and is in good health apart from a couple of teeth “filed down” … odd. He has been great with other dogs he has met. When we took him in the cattery, there was no response towards the cats. Even when a particularly grumpy one growled quite nastily at him, he just looked at it, somewhat perplexed! We would always maintain though that this is not a 100% accurate test and is only an indicator. We would always err on the side of caution and recommend any introductions are sensible, controlled and supervised, with the cat able to run to safety and the animals being allowed to interact when and if they wished ONLY. We feel Bertie would be better suited to an adult only home or one with older children who will respect his size and not see him as a toy. He really is a dinky little chap, but he is also a terrier so he will need an active home, plenty of good exercise and chance to do what terriers do – shake toys lol!!! He loves to chase a ball, “kill” toys with a good terrier shake, and run around. He has good basic obedience, walks nice and easily on the lead. All round, a very pleasant little boy who would do best in a terrier experienced home only. Bertie already has lots of interest, so if you are interested you need to move quickly and complete the online application form, once you are convinced that you are Rescue Ready. Marvin, Male, Lurcher x - Shrewsbury

Marvin, Male, Lurcher x - Shrewsbury

Please meet marvellous Marvin! A gorgeous rough coated collie/lurcher mix who has had some bad luck in the past, who we would dearly love to see settled in a furever home. From past experience, we feel that Marvin would be happiest with a solo owner or maybe a couple who enjoy long walks and a quiet life. Marvin is great with other dogs, great off the lead and great in the home. No destruction, no mess and no noise. Marvin just needs a home where he won’t be overwhelmed or over faced with groups of teenagers/young people in his space. We would like ideally for his furever family to be within an hour of Shrewsbury so that several visits could be arranged prior to adoption. We would like his owner to have experience of owning a large breed, have an understanding of his needs and be willing to adapt to help him settle. Marvin has been very unlucky so far on finding his pawfect and very special someone, maybe that could be you? One thing we do know is he will make someone a marvellous companion for indeed he is Marvellous Marvin! UPDATE – Marvin had gone into Foster with Aunty Nat and her 2 dogs, he’s doing brilliantly, not put a paw wrong. Keep it up Marvin! 5 Yorkie + Yorkie x Shih Tzu, 1 Male/4 Female - Shrewsbury

5 Yorkie + Yorkie x Shih Tzu, 1 Male/4 Female - Shrewsbury

We have 5 members of the same family here with us – 3 Yorkies (one boy and 2 girls) and 2 Yorkie x Shih Tzu girls. They all need homes, BUT our Disney ending would be that all 5 go together OR at least in two’s and maybe one with another resident dog. What we need to ensure is that every one of them is living with at least one other terrier as they have always, always, always lived as part of a larger pack. We want to make sure they always have the company of another dog, if not of each other. Full details of each one will follow once they have all finished their vet treatment and are fighting fit. They range in age from 14 years (Jake, the only boy – his tongue is the give away!) to just 6 years (one of Jake’s daughters whose Mum was a pedigree Shiddie). All are in Shrewsbury and are all absolutely delightful little characters. All will need fantastic homes and all will need to have a thorough home check done. They are afraid and wary around cats so please don’t ask. We would also rather avoid homes with small children, as they are not used to being around children so it’s only fair to avoid that for them too. I know, we are not asking for much are we? If you can offer all 5 a home, we will need to be comfortable you have the means to look after them all properly, time, space, love and funds. If you are interested in offering only one a home, you will need to already have another resident toy breed for company who must be friendly and sociable with no issues. Please read our article 'Are You Really Ready To Adopt A Rescue Dog?' before you apply. Thank you! Home check, meeting at the rescue and adoption fee applies. Adoption fee will depend on how many you are prepared to adopt. Read More

Mouse, Male, Collie x Lurcher - Merseyside

Mouse, Male, Collie x Lurcher - Merseyside

Mouse is currently in foster on Merseyside with 3 other dogs, where he is proving himself to be a lovely house guest. He has lived with children under the age of 6, has lived with a cat and is now living in a home with 3 dogs, so it is safe to say that Mouse ticks a lot of boxes! He is just 5 months old, so he will need someone who is at home a reasonable amount of time and will be prepared to continue with his training and socialisation. Part of the adoption contract will be for the new owner to arrange to have Mouse neutered at their expense, once he is old enough. If you are interested in him, please complete the enquiry form and give us as much information as you can about your circumstances and previous experience. Please read our article 'Are You Really Ready To Adopt A Rescue Dog?' before you apply. Thank you! Home check, meeting at the foster home and adoption fee applies. Read More
