As per title i have for sale a rare Pendelfin Thumper rabbit playing the piano, both the rabbit and piano are marked Made In England and designed by Jean Walmsley Heap. Thumper measures approx 4 inches tall by 2 inches across the base. The piano measures approx 3 inches tall by 3.25 inches wide by 2 inches deep. Both Thumper and the piano are in good condition for there age with just a tiny chip to Thumpers paw and a few marks to the piano, both also have slight age related wear which can be seen in the pictures. A VERY RARE - ANTIQUE HARPSICHORD / TRAVELLING PIANO c SCOTLAND

This unusual little piano was I believe named a "travelling or portable piano" because of its ease of transportation with removable legs. The travelling piano's maker, James Semple, was a piano manufacturer in Glasgow from and the inscription on the piano indicates that Semple held a patent for a check on the downstriking action. This little piano has a keyboard of only 4 octaves (F-f3). It was designed to provide entertainment and to accompany devotions during long journeys from the UK. I have only found TWO others in existence, one which is in Australia - which was donated by Emeritus Professor Joske of the UWA Faculty of Medicine. The Joske family brought the instrument to Perth from England in . And the other was at an auction in the USA, amount unknown. It is in need of a good home and a good tune! This is a broadwood lounge upright piano lounge being smaller in height than normal uprights I've been told these were used often in pubs etc so they could see over the top not sure how true but a good story the piano is a restoration piece and does need a lot of work it's been in our family for many years The history told to me is that the piano came from a pub on Kirkstall road in Leeds where a factory stands now the pub was used by actors working at Yorkshire TV so I've visions of sing songs round it the pub was demolished to make way for the factory and it was salvaged by one of my Aunties as the family lived in the Kirkstall area Like I said it would make a lovely piano but needs restoration Ad ID: Delivery Service Consumer Credit
