11yo TB Gelding - ROR Eligible, Potential Grassroots Eventer

Very sad and extremely reluctant saleā€¦ Jay A.K.A Keepsgettingbetter (IRE) is an 11 yo bay TB gelding who had raced only 4 times until . He is a good lad, a sweet and willing boy and very intelligentā€¦ Sold to me as a ā€œready-to-rideā€, competition ready horse who knows his job and loves it too but it turned out Jay was given up on by his previous owner who left him out 24/7 for what I expect was many months with no work or real care as she had evented him until sheā€™d had enough and bored, wanted a new mount to thrash. This only came to light after Iā€™d got him home. Since, I have brought him on, retrained him from the ground up and he now doesnā€™t batter an eyelid at the farrier, vet or dentist and lunges (double lunge and long reins) to voice command like a true gent. He allows anyone to catch or turn him out and is quiet in his stable and in the field with no vices such as cribbing, weaving as many other Ex-Racehorses do. To ride, he is a nice, forward but often very fresh boy. Heā€™s very sensitive and has a tendency to get way too excited and have a hoolie moment. If given an excuse, he will seize the opportunity. He is NOT a novice ride and can be a handful and therefore requires an experienced rider with a history of hot breeds and sharp and hot behaviour. This is typical Jay ā€“ not harmful with intent, a lovely sweet boy 99% of the time but over excitable for a hot minute ā€“ and in doing so, is very strong, can be a bit silly and lacking self-control. Jay is sensitive to the leg and very susceptible to seat aids and he LOVES to jump and has hunted, and competed in unaffiliated XC, SJ and dressage although not with me. He has a HUGE scopey jump and will jump anything you point him at. He has so much potential with the right person, unfortunately due to the lack of time, thatā€™s not me and I couldnā€™t be any more gutted. I do not want to sell Jay and it is still a very hard decision but I have brought him on as far as I possibly can as I work very long hours and so cannot afford him the further training and schooling that he needs and deserves to progress his ridden work ā€“ during the week as I arrive to the yard late and will not ever ride when alone on the yard for safety reasons. Jay needs someone with the time, patience and experience to improve his ridden discipline and progress him from his outstanding ground and lunge work which unfortunately, I just cannot do. Ā£ ONO - The right home is so much more important than price. I just want Jayboy to be enjoyed to his full potential with the right person. Vet checked, teeth and back done in early November , new shoes every 6 weeks without fail and not due vacs until August . Read More

ROR prospect for sale 16'1 bay lightly raced TB mare, 9yo Retired from racing after a disappointing run last Sunday, just genuinely not good enough. Summer is a very kind mare, hacks out alone or in company including along busy roads. Never offered to buck/rear/nap. We haven't had her in the yard all that long so she hasn't done a lot of reschooling but has a great attitude and a lovely jump. She can be fizzy on full racing feed, she will improve on less feed but because of this no novices please. Great to deal with in the stable and lorry etc. Loves rolling in the mud and being cuddled!! Arty is a 110% gentlemen, with a very promising future. I rescued arty for a racing yard in September and from there I have retrained him on the flat and is now starting jump training. He is a very sweet lad who just likes to please and really try's his best. Dressage; He is ready to go and compete dressage prelim / novice. He has seen dressage boards and isn't bothered. He rides very light in the hand and works correctly in all three paces. Learning leg yeilding and shoulder in, sometimes I wear small spurs just so he reacts quicker off my leg. He would excel in dressage and I think with correct training would reach a high level. Show jumping; He is currently jumping small coloured fences, will jump round a course or single fences. He is showing a lot of promise just needs time to correct his technique and gain more confidence over bigger fences when the time is right. Cross country; He has only seen a few small log type fences, I have no doubt with some proper xc schooling he will love it. Hacking; Arty will hack alone or in company, he is not spooky at traffic/ dogs / plastic bags etc. He is much happier hacking in company like most horses, he is fine in open fields, doesn't hot up, he is happy to go for a quiet bimble or he will love to go for good gallop! He is so much fun! Lunging / free schooling: Arty will free school himself and jump any come up, he loves it, lunging he can be a little lazy to start with but he's 100% easy. ARTY: He has no vices only nods his head when it's feed time, he loves his feed! He is good to shoe, travel, load, vet, dentist. He is good to clip he just isn't happy with the clippers around his head / top of his neck. He love to be pampered! He would prefer to be out on grass as much as possible, but he does like coming into a warm stable on colder nights. Arty would probably turn his hoof to any job your ask of him, whether it would be hunting or eventing. He is the sweetest horse, he is very easy to handle. I'm forced to sell because I have to cut down on the amount of horses I have and I'm not giving arty the time he needs. He will only go to a 5* home! He is very much loved by everyone who knows him. She's currently being brought back into work after winter off, she's currently hacking out in company and alone. She prefer being in company but will hack out alone with a compentant rider. She will constantly seek rider reassurance when alone. She's not fazed with traffic, farrier, vet. No time wasters, lwvtb nor loans as this is hard enough for me. Lightly Raced as Paddy the Plumber this stunning big moving gelding has fantastic presence. Making him a serious prospect for ROR classes. Paddy is 6 wks into our reschooling programme and has been brought back into work correctly after a a field break following a minor track injury. We have waited to advertise until we were sure he would remain sound under a full work load. Happily he is completely sound showing absaloutly no sign of issue. However, with the horses future welfare paramount we would prefer Paddy to go to a dressage/showing hack home to insure he has a long happy working career ahead. Total bargain for a well bred horse (Sadler's Wells lines) with fantastic potential if we could keep him we would!

He hacks alone and in company however can jog so would not recommend for a novice rider. He has seen coloured fences and not phased by them. Jack's is still a project so would suite an experienced rider. Jack's doesn't need to be ridden every day. He can be left for weeks on end and behave when ridden again. Teeth were done in August. ROR eligible ex racehorse with AMAZING potential!

ROR eligible ex racehorse with AMAZING potential!

ROR eligible with unbelievable potential, willing attitude and a wonderful personality, Buddy is ALSO the most straightforward Thoroughbred you'll ever keep! Buddy is easy to catch, clip, load, farrier. He has been barefoot and 100% sound since I started training him - despite on and off road hacking, jumping, etc. He thrives living out and has kept weight through winter. He is less happy living in and will box walk. He hacks alone and in company and has led children's hacks. He takes everything in his stride: he will enjoy a leg stretch then work in an outline if you pick up both reins. He won his first dressage test with me, which was also his first time in an indoor school, with other horses and seeing a waterfall down one side of the school! Buddy is thriving in both his jumping and flatwork. He is comfortable jumping up to a metre and is ready to compete at Novice level dressage (sorry, pics out of date). His training is continuing which will be reflected in his price. He will ALWAYS try what you ask of him which makes him a very rewarding ride. This horse could go the distance, if you'll take him. I could never fit everything I love about this horse in one advert so please call or email for more information. I'll never grow tired of talking about him! Read More

Penny is a lovely natured mare with a heart of gold and never puts a hoof out of place! In her time she has done a bit of everything and is a really fun, sensitive ride. She can bimble on a hack whilst you hold the buckle or go for a good gallop if you pick up your reins and squeeze her on. Snaffle mouthed at all times (including hunting) and has amazing brakes. Hacks both alone or in company without any problems. She has hunted twice with us however we are unsure how much/if she has done so previously, despite this she took me on my first ever hunt and was bold over all ditches and hedges and didn't refuse a thing, however was also more than happy and level headed enough to turn for home when I had had enough ! She is good to catch, load, bath, clip, shoe etc and turns out with both mares and geldings happily. I have popped her over 1m fences at home but with a bit of time and further balance she definitely has the scope to go higher. Penny would be best suited to a confident teenager who is looking for a fun horse to get out competing on and therefore we do not want her going to any novices as she will just be wasted. Genuine sale as looking to cut back on numbers and don't have the time for her that she deserves now that the youngsters are being backed. She will be coming with tack, which includes her saddle which is only 9 months old and recently been checked. Please message me for more pictures, I hope to update soon however there's never usually anyon3 around to take some ! Based in dunmow, Essex. Read More
