Our Own Country - Descriptive, Historical, Pictorial (6 Vols)
6 Volume set of Our Own Country - Descriptive, Historical, Pictorial, a Victorian era survey of Great Britain whose purpose, according to the introduction, is "to describe some of the most interesting and important places in Great Britain." The places are selected to be representative of their type, whether natural scenery, great commercial cities, ancient castles, abbeys, manor-houses, primeval antiquities like Stonehenge, old harbours, battlefields, cathedrals and churches. The contents are abundantly illustrated with pictures, engravings, maps, etc. as illustrated in the photos. Published by Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co in the late 19th century, this edition has been bound by Charles Goodall of Leeds in quarto leather with dark blue leather spines with decorative endpapers. Page yellowing is minimal considering the age, and while there is some minor scuffing of the covers the binding is tight. Ad ID: Delivery Service Consumer Credit
