This is a beautifully proportioned clock, Triple weight for Grande sonnerie strike, It strikes hours and quarters, The clock has a duration of 8 days, the White dial is one piece and has no cracks with pie crust bezel, the dial is 6 and a half inches diameter and the bezel is 7and a half inches, The dial has a silent lever which switches off the hour strike and quarter chime, there is also facility for a strike repeat cord but this is not fitted, Very fine steel hands, Wooden speak board, The 3 weights are in good condition, 3 matching pulleys, The clock has a very nice Rosewood case, all of the glass is good. The case is 45 inches from top to bottom, and at its widest is 14 inches(at the top). These is a lock and key to the left side of the door, The winding key is included. This is a London Brighton and South Coast Railway teak cased 18 inch dial weight driven wall clock. It is a large and attractive solid Teak cased wall mounted weight driven regulator that was supplied to the LBSCR in at a cost of £d by Richard Webster of Cornhill St London it spent all of it's railway working life at Streatham Common Railway Station. The Dial was repainted by the Southern and later British Railways Southern Region clock contractor, John Walker of 1 South Molton Street, London post . This type of clock was usually mounted externally hence the need for using Teak in the case construction, the movement has six spoked wheels, deadbeat escapement, Harrison's maintaining power and a deal pendulum rod with a cast zinc cylindrical bob which is suspended from the backboard, this is a impressive clock standing 85 inches tall so can't always fit the modern houses ceiling height ! For sale was working when placed up into the loft several years ago however the pendulum although there is not correctly attached and I have no key to wind it up although pretty sure if you know anything about these you will have 1.
