Included in "Thesaurus Sacrarum Historiarum veteris testamenti...", the plate illustrates at center King Jeroboam standing, seen from behind, offering sacrifice to an altar; a priest, seen to right, and other men praying beyond the fuming altar; behind to the left, seen from a distance, a man, attacked by a lion and falling from a donkey. Inscribed at bottom: " Qui fictos virtute sacra reprendere cultus Missus erat, sanchté fata futura canit." with the reference to the episode it illustrates: "3. Reg. 13". All the plates from the set are numbered. Here nr. "6" has been scratched away from the surface. First state of two. Hollstein 58 (Collaert). Trimmed to plate mark, mounted on cardboard with inscription (wrong attribution). In very good condition. Read more
