No idea of the age, other than it was bought 25 yrs ago and wasnt new then. I believe the metal work to be original but the wooden body work to be reproduction. This was once a very expensive, quality pony trap (sorry if that is not the right description, we know nothing about driving). It has been donated to the Flicka Foundation - (horse and donkey sanctuary). Unfortunately it has been 'eaten' in three places (as pictured) by a donkey with an appetite for wood!! Apart from these areas and where the paint has worn away on the front bars it is in very good condition, the seat, wheels etc are immaculate, I imagine a coach builder could make it look stunning. This is a seat from an old gig, trap, cart, carriage but is in general good condition. It's just dusty in photos. It's cushion has a small tear on corner as shown in photo. The wood is fine as is the metalwork so would be a great easy restoration project or spare seat. Just needs little sprucing up. It would need collecting because of size. Measurements: cushion 80cm x 33cm x 9cm. Wooden base 43cm x 67.5cm x 2cm. Width between slots on base 48cm. Height from base to top of backrest 40cm. These measurements are all approx. We bought this trap for our Welsh Section C, would suit 13hh to 14hh pony. We have kept it inside and it is in full working order. The shafts are three feet off the ground and there is one footstep. All the woodwork is sound but as it hasn't been used for 18 months it would benefit from a dusting and a lick of paint. All the metalwork is sound too, as is the sprung suspension. We are only selling because we are moving and won't have anywhere to store it. Collection only, very close to J17 M4.
