Cost: £55 for the course. Led by Adam Dacey the founder of mindspace, with a 20 year full-time experience of practicing & teaching mindful meditation in the UK, Europe, Asia and the USA. The first week tends to be busy, so please arrive at least 15 minutes early. If you have already taken a beginners course you may be interested in the mindspace+ programme. An eight-week course exploring how we can reduce the anixiety in our life, by living in the moment. Week 1: Mindful Listening Learn to listen with relaxed attention and enjoy a practice that naturally bring us into the present moment. This training also helps to improve our relationships with others both at work and home. Week 2: Mindful Body In this session we learn how to fully turn up to the present moment. We will learn several Mindful Body practices. These will be guided and between 5-15 minutes in length. Week 3: Mindful Breathing Discover a practice that brings great benefit to our mind. It is one of the classical ways to bring peace and calm into our life and practiced by millions of people across the world. Week 4: Mindful Mind Learning to watch our mind quietly is a skill that we can develop through practice. As a result we can develop emotional intelligence and benefit from an essential practice that brings stillness into our life. Week 5: Mindful Movement In this session we will learn how to establish a more dynamic Mindfulness practice, learning the practices of Mindful Walking and Mindful Standing. Week 6: Mindful Eating A tasty session! Involving mindful eating exercises and other tips on how we can progress with our training. Week 7: Mindful Sleep A good nights sleep is the key to a healthy body and mind. Learn how to fall asleep peacefully, how to dream peacefully and to wake up smiling. Week 8: Mindful Heart This course will conclude with a series of practices that encourage the development of loving kindness and compassion. All classes are suitable for beginners and take place on chairs. Although you are welcome to bring a cushion if you wish to sit on the floor. No need to wear any special clothing. As part of your class you will also have access to an extensive online resource of guided meditations and tutorials. Although grounded in a deep appreciation of the traditions of Mindfulness & Meditation, mindspace has no religious affiliations, the sessions are suitable for everyone. If you're like a lot of people out there, the word "meditation" can be kind of intimidating. Maybe it conjures up images of bearded yogis sitting on mountaintops in mysterious, far-off places like Tibet. Maybe you think you need to be seriously religious or seriously dedicated to be able to meditate - or that meditation takes too much effort and commitment for a "normal" person like you. But maybe...all that isn't actually true. There are a lot of myths and misconceptions about meditation out there - trust us, we've heard them all! We also know that those myths and misconceptions have very little to do with what meditation is really all about. In fact, the practice of meditation is just as accessible to beginners as it is to that yogi on the mountain. Some meditation techniques are so simple and effortless that children can master them and put them to use. This is great news, because meditation has a number of measurable, real-world benefits including improved brain function, better health, clearer focus, a boost in creativity and more balanced moods, not to mention happiness, stronger relationships and even inner peace. The best news is, adding the benefits of meditation to your life can be as simple as breathing. You don't need to put in hours of intensive work or take a spiritual journey to some far-off land, and you don't need to embrace any specific religion or belief system. All that you need is the desire to learn, and someone who knows what they're doing to teach you how to do it. The Ishayas of The Bright Path are here to do just that. Why Do I Want To Learn Meditation? You may not realize it, but you're here right now for a reason. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed by all those thoughts bouncing around in your mind all day long. What you did is reach out for something more. You told yourself, at least on some level, you are tired of merely existing and ready to start living. You're done with waiting that far-off "someday" when you will finally have all the "stuff" you need to be happy. You're here to make that "someday" today. How Do I Learn? Making a decision to "start meditating" is one thing. Actually doing it - actually beginning the process - is quite another. No matter how ready you are to start this new journey, chances are, you don't know exactly how to start it. You probably can't just walk into a room, sit down and "start meditating" without knowing or understanding a single meditation technique. What are you supposed to say? What are you supposed to do? How do you know it's working? What if you get distracted? The Ishayas practice and teach a meditation called Ascension. I am a 200hrs certified Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa and Power Yoga insured teacher based in Bushey Heath, North West London. I started to take Yoga seriously in my late 20's, before then I'd been to a few classes here and there, but I was practicing sporadically and without much direction. Since becoming a qualified Yoga Teacher, I credit Yoga with positively changing the relationship I have with my body and enabling me to move through my life with a clearer mind. My main focus is to bring the attention to the inner-self through being in touch with the body and working with breath awareness, using the practices as a moving meditation. In terms of my offering as a teacher, students can expect a dynamic flowing style of Yoga with an emphasis on breath and alignment. I invite students to experience the anatomy and physiology of their own bodies and expression of the felt sense with somatic exercises, conscious explorations, imagery and visualizations. I will guide you through the process to find the present moment where mind-body-spirit are in communion. The physiological response is delicious. I offer modifications and variations so classes are accessible for beginners, whilst also being challenging enough for more advanced students. Each student is encouraged to work at their own level yet challenge their own perceived physical and mental limits both on and off the mat. My goal as a Yoga teacher is to encourage others to find a place of calm and inner stillness, to counteract the stresses and pressures of a modern lifestyle. I inspire each student to maintain a regular practice and experience life from a healthy, happy peaceful place. I am a member of the Yoga Alliance (RYT 200). I also regularly attend a wide variety of classes in search of new experiences and new ideas to incorporate into my teaching style.
