Original hand-painted ong>miniatureong> ong>leafong> from a book of hours, showing a monk who administers the Eucharist to a noble lady kneeling in prayer. A nun is kneeling on the right, and there are three other male figures. The blue figure on the left seems to be holding a cloth (?). Against the background on the right a mensa, and the wall of a church.On vellum. From the Netherlands or Flanders. This is concluded from the blank verso of the ong>leafong>, which is common in that region. According to the border decoration the ong>leafong> is from around . Size: cm. The border decoration has acanthus leaves and thin trails with buds. This image is quite rare, compared to other images of ong>miniatureong>s.Condition: In good condition with wear, particularly on the bottom half. With a dog-ear. That is the introductory prayer of almost every Office. At ā€œSpiritus paraclitus...ā€ starts the prayer At Nones, the prayer read at 12 am.This book of hours is in Latin, but is from France around Paris or Rouen. It was written by hand around .With black letters in 17 lines, including 10 large initials in blue or gold colour with fine pen decorations. Two small line fillers, and in purple ink the following parts of the ceremony are indicated: hymn (hym), prayer (oro), versicle (V). Some small initials are decorated with gold paint. The lines have letters in two heights.The condition of the ong>leafong> is very good, without significant wear. Only the letters on the verso are slightly worn. And there is a small fold. The vellum is very thin and transparent, with a small hole at the bottom created in the preparation of the skin, the parchment.
