Harry is a firm favourite wherever he goes. Will go hunting all day leading from another horse or with a good little jockey he is also fab off the lead. He has a cracking jump and would do all pony club activities with a capable little rider. He has taught both my children to ride and helped them come off the lead rein. Harry is a fabulous pony with a great little character. Great to hack, clip, bath, load etc. Extremely sad sale of a much loved pony but we have sadly outgrown him! Harry is approximately 13 yrs old, 11.2hh Welsh A. Plenty of references available and will be sold to a 5* home only!!! Comes with saddle and bridle.. Read more

Lead Rein / First Ridden/ Second Pony for sale

Lead Rein / First Ridden/ Second Pony for sale

Marvin is an 11h2 12 year old Welsh A pony. He is a lead rein, first ridden (with the limits described below) and suitable second ridden if you want to jump higher/shows We've have owned him now for ten months and was brought as a confidence giver for our daughter after a previous bad buy. Marvin has done just that and given her a whole load of fun.. Our daughter had previously only ridden riding school ponies and her previous green pony and he gave her the opportunity to experience something more responsive and forward so as a first ridden pony for schooling, flat work, hacking and safety he is amazing.. Due to our previous bad buy this advert will be as honest as I can so you know exactly what Marvin offers. His good points are he will school all day long, he loves flat work, dressage, showing (and did in hand showing with his previous owners) he really will just go round and round all day.. His really strong point is out on open ground he is steady as a rock and will stand on a loose rein while others canter away/around but equally will canter round coming to a stop when asked by little hands and legs. On this area he is absolutely priceless.. He will go to shows, PC rallies and he stays the same as he does at home, He did mini camp this summer off lead and behaved just as he always does. He is fine to catch, easy enough to load but does travel better with other ponies, he's never taken more than a minute or two to load on his own.. He can however be very nervous of new people and whilst he's not head shy on tacking up he doesn't like to be groomed near his ears and nose, once he knows you he is much better and this problem becomes less and less.. He is great at gymkhana until the cups and flags come out! He'll weave in and out of poles, he'll let little ones jump down, run with him etc but he will not let you pick up the cup/flag in those types of races. He needs sedation for clipping/teeth - not necessarily a negative as not uncommon but I'd rather people knew. Reason for sale is because whilst i would class him as a first ridden in pretty much all areas - he looks completely to everyone else for confidence when jumping.. Marvin has an amazing jump on him and with a confident rider he would be amazing, he turns fast and jumps large so in the right hands he could be an awesome jumping pony, but our daughter is still learning in this area herself and so their lack of confidence together is counter productive which is why for jumping he really is a second pony only.. As our daughter loves jumping and really wants to progress further in this area we've reached a cross roads with him otherwise he would not be going anywhere. He will jump for little ones in lessons, at home etc but not consistently and at shows when everyone is nervous he won't jump at all off lead unless the rider is confident.. Marvin can be stabled or live out, currently he is out 24/7, he has front shoes no health issues. He would love a home where he does lots of hacking, flat work and pops a few jumps with no pressure. He is up to date with his back, teeth, jabs and comes with his tack and lots of rugs. Home far more important than price - lots of videos, photos on request Read More

Excellent lead rein / second ridden pony for sale - 12.1hh

We have owned Milly for the past 18 months and during that time she has been a wonderful lead rein pony, taking part in rallies, pc camp, shows, fancy dress classes etc, and has given her young jockey lots of fun, and the confidence to progress to the next stage. She is great in traffic, to load, shoe, catch etc., is snaffle mouthed, happily pops a course of jumps and can be turned out alone and in company, but she isn't a first ridden as she can be cheeky off the lead rein. However she would make an excellent second pony for an older, more competent jockey. We're now looking for a new loving home for her, where she can give another child as much fun as she's given us. She will come with all tack and rugs. More photos and videos available.

Meet jlo she is a 13hh skewbald light weight cob. I have owned jlo for the last year and she has been an absolute joy to own. We brought her for my daughter to start learning on but because she has lost all interest and she is being wasted in a field. She is 15 years old but.please don't let that put you off she loves and good gallop and canter and is happy to pop a jump and a lodge. She is perfect in all heavy traffic and tractors. She is a great lead rein pony and has taught my daughter to come.off the lead rein and happy plods along the roads with someone on ground or on horse back but does need a confident rider if being ridden on her own. She doesn't buck rear but just like reassurance from her rider. This is the hardest decision I have ever had to do because I would keep her as a field pet if I could. But she still has so much more to give a young rider or small adult. So please only contact me if you are 100% sure because she won't just go to anyone she will only go to a 10? home. She prefers to live out 27/7 but is happy to be in a stable too. She has brilliant feet so is barefoot never had shoes on. She is up to date with her tetanus and wormer and dentist. She comes to call in the biggest of fields. She has never been sick or sorry. She will come with all her tack and head collars. She is the best friend and I am gutted I have to say this but I know she needs to work as she loves riding and being out Read More

13hh Gelding Lead Rein, First or Second Pony

13hh Chestnut Gelding, Registered Welsh Section B. 10 Years old. Dennis was bought as a second pony for my 9 year old son. My son wasn't too confident at that time and needed a pony that would really look after him taking him from Lead Rein to being independent. He has fulfilled his job and has now been outgrown and is ready to show his next little rider the ropes. He has been using for schooling off the lead rein and jumping at home and local shows. We have hacked him on the lead rein and out as a group with other horses. Dennis has been a Safe and Sane pony. He is great to catch, good with the farrier (bare foot only). He is an extremely good doer and lives off Fresh air!. We keep him stabled at night and out during day. Bad Points: Doesn't like the Dentist or the hosepipe! He will become bolshy if presented with either, however a firm adult hand and this is not a problem. We have travelled Dennis a lot to and from lessons and shows. He loads instantly when a lunge line is presented to his rear end! Price is £ to include all tack excluding saddle. His Made to Measure Saddle is available at £. Delivery can be arranged at £1 per mile. Open to Vetting. Read More

11.2 hh lead rein, first or second pony

11.2 hh 11yo Grey (some of the time) Welsh Section A Gelding - Striker Striker is a cherub. He will happily do the lead rein bit with the wobbly just starting off riders. He will hack up the lanes unfazed by any cars, vans, bikes, tractors coming past, and he will happily stand and wait for traffic to pass. He will go round and round and round a schooling area, walking over poles and weaving around cones. Striker has a sweet little trot and a nice rhythmic canter with the sweetest little pop over a small jump, which he will happily do on the lead or off. He has been across wide open fields and down woodlands and little foresty areas and he's impeccably behaved, standing and waiting for gates to be opened without getting fidgety. He has been put to harness and pulled a little cart before we owned him, however this is not something we have done with him. Striker will happily do the circuits on the lead rein with a 3 year old or step up for a more able jockey, happily carrying 8 stone with a 5'5 rider. Striker has the presence, movement and the look to excel in the show ring, however I wouldn't recommend this as his forte as he also has the hygiene and cleanliness of a wart hog !!! This little boy has given my nieces some lovely times and helped build their confidence in the saddle and on the ground but the winter has it's way of showing the enthusiastic jockeys from the fair weather fairies. Rugs and tack available under separate negotiation. East Sussex £995 Read More

WANTED - lead rein/first ridden pony

I'm looking for a lead rein - first ridden pony for my nearly 7 year old daughter. Her pony sadly died last summer and she has been having lessons recently but she is desperate for a new best friend. Needs to be around 11.2hh. Max age 15. Something that will stand to be fussed, plaited, loved etc by my daughter. Needs to be sane to hack out alone as my old boy is retired and excellent to catch, load, farrier etc. Experienced loving home. Am open to options such as lwvtb or even a part share if local to us here near Usk. Please no greys (her last pony was grey and she's quite keen not to have one the same colour as she is still heart broken over poor Maggie) Will mainly be used for having fun, hacking and the odd show etc so would be ideal if pony has already been to a few shows and knows a few of the ropes ??
