He was regularly at the ‘Salon des humoristes’ (Humorist exhibition), where his comedic sense could hardly be ignored.He subsequently began his career as a cartoonist, becoming one of the pioneers of French comics. While continuing his work as an illustrator for a large number of periodicals for young people, he also worked with the major publishers of the period in France: Fayard, Offenstadt, Fleurus, Montsouris… and Gordinne in Belgium. This plate is one of the most beautiful from the only album of the ‘Bernard Prince’ (Hermann’s favourite series) for which there are still a few original ‘Bernard Prince’ pencil sketches, offering insight into the graphic work of one of the greatest artists of the ‘Journal de Tintin’. All other sketches from the ‘Bernard Prince’ albums were destroyed more than 20 years ago.Hermann is a creator of atmospheres...
