Hermann is one of the greatest authors of the ‘Journal Tintin’, which resulted in what is nowadays called the 'Belgian school of Brussels'.It was therefore entirely to be expected that he would be awarded the Grand Prize of the city of Angoulême, celebrating his talent internationally. In this year (the year of his 80th birthday), more and more collectors have been realizing the need to give a more prominent place in their collections to this artist with such remarkable graphic and narrative qualities.In this context, the plates of sketches of the Jeremiah series are a remarkable testimony to Hermann’s graphic qualities and framing.This lot features the creative process behind these Jeremiah plates, in which the illustrations and the framing are almost always essentially in their final form... great artwork...It is therefore very interesting to compare the sketches with the final published versions, including for the texts that are sometimes entirely new, and which are equally interesting in black and white or colour in this album.In this plate, Hermann’s sketching work is visible and can be compared with a black and white photocopy of the original plate published in the album which highlights even better the framing of nocturnal and indoor environments.Please note that the last sketched strip features two unpublished panels on this plate, since these last two boxes don’t match the final published version.Without a doubt, now that beautiful plates from Jeremiah are being sold between collectors for upwards of €, this lot from has the potential to enhance any great collection of vintage comics in a spectacular way.Ideal lot for framing.Free registered shipping. This plate is one of the most beautiful from the only album of the ‘Bernard Prince’ (Hermann’s favourite series) for which there are still a few original ‘Bernard Prince’ pencil sketches, offering insight into the graphic work of one of the greatest artists of the ‘Journal de Tintin’. All other sketches from the ‘Bernard Prince’ albums were destroyed more than 20 years ago.Hermann is a creator of atmospheres...
