A late Victorian rosewood envelope card table, inlaid with swags and flora, green baize playing area, counter cups, cabriole legs, incurved undertier. Several small pieces of inlay missing and some damage to feet of each leg. Dimensions approx 58cm (W) x58cm (D) x70cm (H). Nice overall condition commensurate with age. Stunning Inlaid Late Victorian Art Nouveau Mahogany Triple

Elegant inlaid mahogany Art Nouveau armoire. Striking inlay work both on doors and on cornice Divided into three sections. Left and right doors with matching inlay and central panel with full length mirror Original solid brass handles on doors and drawers Original keys and working locks Original clothes hooks in hanging section (right hand side in photos) with removable hanging rail. Pull out flap under hanging section with brass and ceramic knob Original 100% linen fabric lining to the hanging section. (Linen shows signs of age) Three solid mahogany pull out linen press drawers with two single and two full width drawers with solid brass handles to the left hand side The mahogany has aged to a warm rich shade with striking grain. The piece has scuffs and scratches commensurate with its age and its use as a much loved family piece. French polishing has been scratched off by two door handles. This can be easily fixed by rubbing down the wood and polishing it again. Armoire comes apart in five pieces for easy transportation: cornice, plinth, right hand hanging section, upper drawer unit, lower drawer unit. A very attractive late Victorian/Edwardian inlaid mahogany bureau / writing desk circa , in good condition. It is relatively small and lightweight, and would fit into a smallish space (for example, the corner of a sitting room or study, or entrance hall). The desk is inlaid with lighter woods, probably satinwood and boxwood. It has cabriole legs and drop handles. The writing surface folds down and is supported by two retractable arms. There are three generous drawers in its lower part. The desk measures 76 cm (30”) wide, 41 cm (16”) deep and 91 cm (39.5”) tall. It has a writing height of 68 cm (26.5″). ROSEWOOD CARD TABLE

Victorian rosewood 'Demi-lune' card table. In its closed position this lovely table can stand against the wall and will look particularly nice in a hall way with a lamp on it. To use it as a card table, the leg at the back pulls out to reveal a hidden drawer. This drawer is used to hold the cards or other games pieces. The top can then be lifted to open it up as a round card table. The rosewood surround on the playing surface is particularly beautiful it having spent most of its life hidden from view. The sides have an intricate design and it stands on delicate barley twist legs. To bring this piece back to pristine condition the interior baize may need replacing and the top surface should be re-polished. However, it is lovely just the way it is. Rosewood can no longer be used in furniture making owing to the restrictions that have been imposed. As a consequence, rosewood furniture will become more and more rare grow in value. Read More
