A brass-gimballed magnetic compass from a large vessel. Finish is natural brass patina. In full working order with provision for illumination from below. Filled with compass fluid. Glass is hand engraved near edge 'B407K ' Bowl diameter 24cm, card diameter 17.5cm, gimbal ring 29.5cm outside, depth 13cm. Weight 11kg. Sestrel Marine Gimballed Compass in Godalming

I have a Sestrel compass for sale. This is part of the inventory of my late uncle's marine chandlery. It is new/old stock and has not been fitted to a vessel. It comes in its original packaging. Sestrel went out of business because they wouldn't compromise on quality and found their products were uneconomic to make. Looking at it, it isn't hard to see why. It is beautifully made. This would look fantastic on a classic yacht. This is probably a unique opportunity. There can't be many of these knocking about in this condition any more, so a pretty unique opportunity

Old Gimballed Sauri Keiki GS 75 Compass.

This is a very old compass. It comes complete with fixing bracket and is has a back-light. The size is H.80 mm W 150 mm D 160 mm. The box that it comes with is oak I believe with a plywood bottom. This is a heavy 7lb. ships bell with the following inscription "Metal Ex " H.M. RODNEY" dismantled. Inverkeithing . From what I know of its history it was owned by an ex- sailor of that ship for many years. It is believed to have been made in the early s by or for him.
