Compact SHARMAN D.NEILL LTD BELFAST Ships Binnacle Compass sharman D Neill were manufacturers of naval instruments during the late 19th & first decade of the 20th century and were based in Donegal Place, Belfast. They became a limited company in and were known as marine options, badge makers, watch and clock makers & later silversmiths and ideally situated for what was then an important seafaring city. White Star is the name of the shipping company for which Harland & Wolf of Belfast produced liners the most famous being the RMS Titanic, at that time Sharman D Neill were known to have been one off their suppliers. Victorian Observator Rotterdam Ships Water Compass Binnacle A Lovely Antique Victorian ships Binnacle made by Observator Rotterdam which has a highly sort after Working Water Compass. I do not know a lot about it, but will try to give as much information as possible, if you would like me to check something else for you to help then please get in touch: To the back of the case, it has what looks to be a makers initials or the ships identity that it was on stamped into it, they are quite hard to make out but look to be RMR? I have tried to photo this but it was difficult with my camera. The Compass is a Very Rare Water compass by Observator Rotterdam. The Water Compass has the following markings: Face: OBSERVATOR ROTTERDAM F.I. KNMI / MSK Around the rim of the face: HAMBERG - GEHNA - - Another mark (I cant make it out) Reduced to £75 for quick sale, was looking for £100!
