Deep carved nut (Walnut) wood carving/relief with a coat <strong>ofstrong> arms and two putti holding a knight’s helmet with feathers. Beautiful oak sculpture <strong>ofstrong> an angel. Finely carved and nicely crafted with a pretty face, long hair and a detailed carved robe/dress. The back has been hollowed out, this was done to prevent cracks in the wood.It dates back to the 17th century and the origin is Belgium/Flanders.Nice s<strong>ofstrong>t patina on the wood. Part from a church interior.The sculpture is 78.5 cm high. It is mounted on a round oak pedestal with nice details. This is originally not part <strong>ofstrong> the sculpture and so is a later addition.The total height <strong>ofstrong> the sculpture including the pedestal is 106 cm. The sculpture is mounted loose on the pedestal with a heavy iron pen with screw thread. The carving can easily be unscrewed and detached from the pedestal and suspended, if one so wishes.
