Antique block with two museum figurines made with polychrome terracotta in the late 19th century, Neapolitan School, excellent craftsmanship, from Southern Italy (Naples). A collector’s item, product of a noble craftsmanship which is almost entirely lost today, as there are only very few similar items available outside of museums and monumental nativity scenes.Good condition as shown in pictures, the only flaw is that the old lady’s right hand missing, along with some signs of ageing.Approximate height 42 cm. A large polychrome softwood Madonna - Baroque - Tirol - ca.

Beautiful large Madonna, standing on the serpent of depravity, a sign of Maria’s immaculate conception, without original sins. The statue is painted in multi-colours. She is definitely not in perfect condition, but she has a beautiful worn patina and a warm serene look, and some imperfections to the hands, see photos, a sign of more than 200 years of intensive religious use. Maria has glass eyes, she seems to look at you, this is typical of statues from Tirol and Northern Italy from the Baroque period.Origin: this Maria statue stood high on a nunnery altar in the Brussels area, quieted and almost forgotten in recent years; the monastery has long since closed. However, it has the characteristics of the Habsburg Baroque. Exact provenance unknown.Condition: the statue is in worn condition and bears signs of wear due to age and religious use, see photos.
