A detailed and beautiful bronze bust.Signed on the right shoulder Jef Lambeaux. Normal signs of old-age. H 21 cmJef Lambeaux (Antwerp, 14 January - Brussels June ) was a Belgian sculptor. He could create a world in the sense of Till Eulenspiegel mixed with a Dionysian joy.Lambeaux studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp. He joined a group of young artists, led by Jan van Beers. They were a bit notorious for their eccentric behaviour, including walks in Antwerp dressed up in historical costumes. His first work, "War", was exhibited in . In Paris he made "The Beggar" and "The Kiss" (), considered as his masterpiece. During a visit to Italy, he was strongly impressed by Giambologna’s sculptures. This gave him a great preference for the effects of force and motion in the human figure.In , he was one of the founding members of the artists' circle Les Vingt. On offer: two beautiful régule figurines depicting a singer with guitar and a female singer. Both figurines are made with a great sense of detail and have a pleasant, cheerful look. They both stand on a white marble base and are made in France in the late 19th century. The general condition is good (see photos), only the gentleman has some minor signs of age, such as a missing finger. They are both coloured in various shades of bronze and have a beautiful patina. They are believed to be created by the French sculptor Ferrand and are titled 'Chanteur and Chanteuse'. The height of each is 23 cm.
