This is a very interesting item because of the stampings with "INDIA" and a broad arrow... which I initially assumed meant the kukri was a WW2 Issue..HOWEVER This has some age to it and is a nice quality manufacture not associated with copies.It came with a collection of kukris all the others being original.Also in the many moons of dealing collecting,writing about, and dealing in militaria I have not found another kukri for sale on the collectors market exactly like this one...or with these markings... suggestion is that this was made for the Gurkhas of the Indian Army.The Indian Army is apparently the third largest army in the world and its a little known fact that far more Gurkhas serve with the Indian Army than the British Army.Certainly the internet could not come up with another and the only rerference to a similar kukri we could find was on a Gurkha Kukri Forum where it mentions that after WW2 there were a lot of spare stocks of original MK 3 Kukris and in the idea that it would make them more saleable were stamped with "INDIA". This is a large typical Mk 3 military kukri with a blade 31.5 cm blade length measured in a straight line not on the curve. The kukri is a perfect and nice tight fit in the sheath. A very nice kukri but as we cant make s definitive description have listed at a very reasonable price.Would look terrific with any WW2 display or worn at a 's weekend with a Chindit jungle uniform Ishapore, Indian army issue kukri, I am asking £ Including recorded delivery please contact me for PayPal info to pay.
