The Kirk NC-300 is a sturdy replacement for the rather flimsy and much criticised standard Nikon tripod foot for the 300MM F/4D AF-S lens. You can find plenty of discussions about this on various forums if you search online. It uses the Arca Swiss style quick release plate but also has a standard 1/4 inch threaded hole so other quick release plates can be attached. I have used this with a Manfrotto quick release plate attached and never had any issues. There are just a few minor marks from use as can be seen in the photos. I upgraded my lens to the new VR version some time ago and unfortunately the new lens does not fit this collar so I no longer have any need for this.
