This plate is one of the most beautiful from the only album of the ‘Bernard Prince’ (Hermann’s favourite series) for which there are still a few original ‘Bernard Prince’ pencil sketches, offering insight into the graphic work of one of the greatest artists of the ‘Journal de Tintin’. All other sketches from the ‘Bernard Prince’ albums were destroyed more than 20 years ago.Hermann is a creator of atmospheres... There is no better description for this album which reflects...the warmth... and the violence of the tropics...One can also notice that the graphic genius of Hermann is illustrated ‘in tempore non suspecto’: It's a miracle to find this page of pure creation by one of the current comic masters.In addition, by comparing the coloured photocopy of the original coloured plate offered in this lot, we can see that the majority of the graphics AND text are already here, and very close to their final state in this remarkable document.This lot reveals that there are virtually no framing differences between the sketch and the final plate, which is quite remarkable and shows the precision of Hermann’s ‘first draft’.Without a doubt, now that Hermann’s plates are being purchased by collectors for prices ranging from € to € for plates with large panels featuring the ‘Cormoran’, this lot could tremendously enhance a beautiful collection of vintage comic strips.Signed ‘Hermann’ at the bottom of the page.Ideal lot for framing.Free registered shipping.
