January Personal Training: It's too late, we're fully
OK so we aren't quite fully booked just yet That was a little white lie to get your attention............... we all find ourselves lying occasionally to make things sound better Whether it's as simple as highlighting our strengths and down playing our weaknesses, we all do it don't we? Not just to other people, often we even lie to ourselves.......... "I couldn't have trained today because I didn't have time" (sat watching tv for 2 hours in the evening) "I ate really healthily today" (apart from that bag of crisps and chocolate cake I had quickly before my meeting) The list goes on..... We all know, in reality it's not a good idea to compare our personal achievements against others especially when it comes to exercise and fat loss (this is a sure way to make many of us feel inadequate, unhappy and dis-satisfied with our results or lack there of) I agree that this a big no no and of course I tell my clients the same thing! Unfortunately we are all quite happy to do this when it suits us. We can actually find ourselves using someone else's failures to justify our own lack of results...... "Oh well, at least I'm doing better than him" "Oh well,at least I'm not as fat as her" "Oh well, at least i don't look like that" "Oh well..." Rubbish! All of it Rationalisations, Excuses, Stories All to temporarily make us feel better We tell the story of being happy where we are right now........ "I' don't care how I look" "I don't mind carrying a bit of extra weight" "Its not important to me" We lower our expectations of ourselves.... because it's too uncomfortable to face the reality Lying is just easier than finishing what you started I get it..........heck, I do it too! The only comparison we need to consider is....... "Am I better than I was yesterday?" "Did I do what I said I would do today?" The common theme..... STOP LYING You'll never ever get what you want...
