Die Differenzierung Kunst/Nicht-Kunst ist im Bezugsrahmen werkinterner Kategorien längst schon obsolet geworden, während ein kompliziertes Geflecht von scheinbar kunstfremden Parametern die Kontrolle übernimmt.Gerhard Johann Lischka entwirft mit seiner Bilder-Skizze Medienformen eine integrierte Geschichte der Kontexte künstlerischer Kommunikation. Siegfried J. Schmidt beobachtet Kunst aus der Perspektive des soziokulturellen Konstruktivismus als sich selbst konstruierendes Symbol- und Sozialsystem auch im Zeitalter einer Medienpoiesis. David J. Krieger beschreibt Kunst als semiologisches Kommunikationssystem im Rahmen einer Kybernetik dritter Ordnung.
