This is an early Honda which used to have points fitted but now I have upgraded it to a complete CD ignition system it starts easily and runs smoothly it has had a comprehensive service which included the engine oil changed + carburretor stripped and cleaned out with an airline also gearbox oil changed(no water ingress = milky coloured oil) and also a new water pump impeller fitted and so this will ensure trouble free running for the foreseeable future there is a small piece of the "cavitation late " which has broken away but this does not affect the performance, I do have available an "add a rudder" which can easily be bolted on which not only makes up for the broken piece that's missing but it is a significant help especially when slow running and or manouvering such as on a canal boat or slow running fishing boat or day boat it would take aprox 15 minutes to fir this, it is set up for remotes because there is no " twist grip throttle" or tiller and I have the associated plate for the front of the engine on which to mount the steering and control cables, any trial or test run in my wheelie bin is available riot to purchase, Cash on collection is very much preferred from either Warrington, Cheshire, WA59SL, near to Ikea and ToysRUS and Marks n Spencers, just off the M62 at junction 8/9, or from Lymm Village, Cheshire, WA139PR, please check with me first before travelling, I may considera bank transfer and I could then hand it to a courier providing that you organise it, Free delivery upto 10 miles and further by discussion Also I may consider a cheap part exchange of any horse power,eg non runner etc, so please ask at almost anytime x 7 days these engines are especially suited to Dawncrafts,, although there are a lot of vessels out there with a long shaft fitted and their owners do not know any different ?/ the result will be encountering difficulties when in shallow waters !! such as coming into their berth at a marina or mooring which is muddy and shallow and are also more likely to pick up rubbish around the propeller + breaking shear pins more frequently,,, the next time that you see a Dawncraft out of the water at a boat yard,,, take a look at the shape of the hull at the back and the "bilge keels" you can then see what I mean and also salute the designers of this very popular craft, lastly to add there are lots of Honda owners who will say that a 7-5 hp is as good as any 10 horse power 2 stroke=no oiling up problems and no having to mix the fuel and oil plus great economy 3 to 4 hours to a gallon possibly a bit more 5 hrs ?? and quiet and smooth in operation,, What more can I say?? if this engine is of interest to you then perhaps call me or message me this weekend because from Monday I will be listing it onto e bay Read More

Honda BF5 5hp standard shaft outboard engine and tank

Having just sold my Cape Cutter 19 to an Australian buyer I’m left with the Honda BF5 5hp standard shaft outboard that I used on it. It’s too big for my replacement boat which came with a suitable engine anyway. I bought the Honda new in May from Viking Marine, Goole, and since then it’s only use (fresh water) has been to manoeuvre the boat on and off the jetties and moorings on Kielder Water reservoir. In I sailed only four times due to bad weather and other commitments. As a result the engine hours are minimal. I couldn’t begin to estimate what they are but the engine had only just started sipping from its second 12 litre tank of fuel at the start of and most of the first tank went into the lawnmower after the end of the season. The engine is in virtually new condition. it’s never been run above half throttle and comes with original documents/manual/receipt for £ and tool kit. The prop is unmarked, as in the type of boat it was used in it was in no danger of ever touching the ground being protected by the rudder and skeg.
