Blagdon Mare for sale 14.1 hh 8 years old

Stunning Blagdon Cob Mare History We bought Mary from a dealer for my 60-something year old mum to hack. She had a high worm burden and wasn't up to date with vaccinations, teeth etc. We have now rectified this. She is passported at 14.1hh and 8 years old but she is more like 13.3hh, very wide and chunky. Good bits Mary is great out hacking she will go first or last, rides out in a group or on her own. She is never silly in open spaces even when other horses are cantering or galloping in front of her, she is a forward ride and not a plod. She is green in the school which we have been working on, she is very willing to learn, she pops a small jump and lunges and is just getting the hang of voice commands. She has just started showing, ridden and in hand which she really enjoys. She can be left for weeks not ridden then get on and ride and she is fine. She is great for the farrier and dentist and enjoys a bath. She is very funny and makes us all laugh daily, loves to pull funny faces, she is cheeky and has a fantastic character. She is a stunning looking Mare with a beautiful mane and tail, we have clipped her legs but when grown she has lovely feathers also. Bad bits Mary can be very strong, this is mostly on the ground. If she decides that she wants to go a certain way she can drag you, this is not all the time just odd occasions. Sometimes on a hack she can become strong if she spots a juicy clump of grass. We have noticed that the more she's in work the less this happens. She is great in traffic but is very wary of farm machinery, we have been working on this, she does nothing nasty, just turns away and goes forward a few steps. She can be mouthy but think this is more of an 'age' thing. She is wary of being clipped but our clipper man is patient and she is getting better but we do need to twitch her to do her legs. Reason For Sale Mum has just been diagnosed with a bone problem which her specialist has told her that any fall or bad jolt could result in broken bones. She is now not riding Mary as she is worrying about her pulling and damaging her. We are looking for a 10* home for her as she is very loved and has stole our hearts, this has been a very tough decision but we are wanting to do what is best for her, and she needs to be out having fun. We would like her to go to a teenager or adult that will be able to further her potential as we are sure she will do fantastic as a show pony. Me and mum are both 5'6" and we have had a 5'11" rider on her and they didn't look out of place as she is very wide. 13.3h 6 yr old cob mare and her foal. Foal is a colt and was born on good Friday. Bought mare not knowing she was pregnant. My 7 year old novice child. She was riding her up till we found out she was pregnant. She Seemed to be safe and sensible in the time we was working with, she never bucked or reared No vices known. she was hacking her out with others on yard 3 times a week. both have a lovely tempranent.sad sale due to husbands health and not enough time for them. 14.1hh Black Cob 6yr Old Mare

Peanut is a lovely girl who has come to us from a farm family. She had x2 foals with the previous owners and was backed as a 3yr old via the children (11 and 13) who used to lightly ride her around their farm. She was then a mum to x2 lovely fillies and then came to us as the family didnt want to breed anymore and Peanut was not doing anything. She hadnt seen road traffic till she came to us so we tie her up daily by the side of the main road to help her desensitize herself which is working wonders. We dont have light traffic here, its trains, double deckers, artics and town centre traffic which she is ridden through daily alone and in company. She is now good with drains and white lines, which she obviously hadnt seen previously. She will stand all day to be groomed and bathed and will happily ride in our field amongst our other horses with no problem. She will load onto any trailer or lorry. She can be a problem to catch in a big field but shes not too bad in our 2 acre. She is used to being in an electric paddock and is fine. She is good to tack up but is learning to stand still whilst mounting. At present she is better when someone stands at her head....we like them to stand solid whilst being mounted alone so this will take time. We are certain she will go on to make a fantastic fun cob for all the family but she will need to go to someone who will continue her education especially on the roads purely due to her greeness in this area. We always describe our cobs honestly and anyone who comes to view her will be happy with her i would just prefer to be open so as to not get the wrong person. She is barefoot and trimmed and has been wormed and back checked. She is a great weight carrying cob who will go onto great things. Not bothered by dogs, kids, chickens but although shes 6 i would describe her like a 4yr old who needs to further her education. Open to any vet. Tack availabe by seperate negotiation. Read More

Bought from horse sales in October, she was fresh from the mountain and not handled. Previously bred 2 gorgeous goals. Brought her in in March, with a view to handle and break to cart. She quickly went from climbing the walls to avoid human contact to being touched all over without panic.
