Zaskar Carbon 9RExpert has full XT- large frame. Cost £ months ago, but been sitting in my garage since then - riden once to set the gears! The Zaskar Carbon 9R Expert is a carbon lean MTB racing machine that features a FOC Ultra 'Speed Blend' carbon frame, Rockshox Reba RL 29er 100mm travel forks, Shimano SLX components (20 gears) and built for racing down your local singletrack. This classic 29er hardtail from GT features a full carbon FOC Ultra Speed Blend frame with the iconic Triple Triangle. Originally developed to extend the frame life, stiffen the rear triangle and thus create a faster, more responsive ride, the Triple Triangle frame has transcended its role as just another tech story and become an iconic symbol of who GT are and what they stand for. Also, FOC Ultra takes a minimalist approach to carbon fabrication by using the fewest layers of high-modulus carbon possible to achieve a stiff, reliable, responsive ride. In other words, light enough for GT's peloton ready machines and burly enough for their XC race bikes. Supplied with the frame as a set of Rockshox Reba SL forks. These provide 100mm of travel and deliver excellent damping that will soak up everything (well virtually) you steer this machine over. The Zaskar 9R Carbon Expert also comes fitted with the powerful Formula RX hydraulic disc brakes. These provide great stopping power and with the pads clamping around a set of mm rotors, stopping is awesome whatever the weather. A mixture of Shimano components provide the shifting mechanisms, whilst the Shimano SLX double chainset (), coupled with the rear 10 speed cassette, provides the 20 gearing choices you have at your disposal. Climb the toughest of hills, and hurtle down the descents and along the flats - with 20 gears you can. The wheelset comprises WTB STi23 rims, which in-turn are built upon a pair of All Terra hubs and have a pair of grippy Continental Race King tyres wrapped around them. Slice through the mud, descend long passes and grip the trails, these wheels will withstand the offroad punishment you go over. The 29" wheel has established itself as the most popular MTB wheel size for good reason. The benefits are simple to understand. A bigger wheel rolls over bumps better than a smaller wheel: this increases control, builds confidence, maintains momentum and makes you faster. The big wheels also provide extra traction in corners and off cambers as more rubber is in touch with the ground. Frame heights are generally the same as the standover height so the bikes don't feel bigger to ride. From a handling perspective the geometry of a 29er bike differs from a 26 with the chainset positioned noticeably lower than the centre of the wheel hubs, this provides a sensation of sitting in the bike, not on top of the bike, creating extra traction in faster corners and solid boost of confidence.
