GORGEOUS COB FOR SALE

beautiful dark bay irish cob mare 10yo with a soft nature. Over the 4 years I’ve owned her, I mainly used her for hacking (mostly on my own) and for sponsored rides. Although she is a weight carrier, she is very compact and can’t take more than a 17” saddle. Good points: • I have found her brilliant on the roads with any kind of traffic, I’ve ridden her on busy roads with fast traffic passing, narrow roads with grain lorries passing, on tracks with combines/tractors/trailers etc passing close and she just carries on regardless. • She’s happy around cows, sheep and dogs. She likes to stop and have a chat with the cows when they’re in for the winter. • Shes’s brilliant with the farrier, dentist and vet who all love her (the farrier described her as worth her weight in gold!). • Will stand quietly to be clipped and groomed, has manners to burn and can be handled by anyone. • She comes to call and will share with mares and geldings. • Travels fine in a trailer without a central division and travels fine in a lorry. • She’s a good doer and does not need much feed at all. • Several times when I sat down in her field, she wandered over and sat beside me for a natter – she’s the type that would love to come into your kitchen for a cup of tea! • She settled in our yard immediately. • She was driven in the past. • Has popped little jumps and enjoyed that. Not so good points: • Although she enjoys being in the school, she is still green as I don’t like school work myself. • She’s prone to mud fever but this can be controlled. • Puts on weight easily so may need restricted grazing in the spring. • She really needs a variety of work and some fun as I am finding that she now has got bored with just hacking out and will nap if she gets off with it; nothing nasty at all she just roots herself until she gets fed up and then decides to get on with it, so probably not suitable for a novice. • She walks very slowly (but she is no plod) and she tends to jog especially on the way out. • I think she might enjoy hunting but not with a novice and I have no idea if she has hunted. £ ono including good quality bridle, 2 year old Bates saddle and all her rugs. Gorgeous 15.2hh Bay Cob Gelding

Sonny is a gorgeous and eye catching 15.2hh (and still growing!) rising 4 year old bay cob gelding. He has an excellent confirmation and would excel in the show ring, or as a happy hacker or driving horse. He has a lovely cuddly personality and loves human attention. He will stand for hours to be fussed and groomed alone or in company and is the first to plod over for attention in the field. I bought Sonny as a project a year and a half ago, and he ended up staying with me a lot longer than planned as he’s such a lovely boy! I have ummed and arred for a while now on whether to sell him, but after being unable to find a sharer and coming to terms with the reality of how I really do not have time to ride two horses, or the facilities to bring him onto his full potential (no school) I have come the decision to sell him on. He loads first time ever time, is excellent for my trimmer and has some of the best feet she has seen so won’t ever need shoes. He is excellent to be tacked up, have his feet picked out, stands for the vet and dentist (no sedation needed) and although he hasn’t been clipped I have rubbed clippers all over him and he couldn’t care less. He lives out 24/7 all year round, unrugged (although he does wear a fly sheet in horse fly season), in a herd environment, and I would like him to go somewhere where they will continue to keep him this way. I backed Sonny at the end of the summer using a mixture of natural horsemanship and traditional methods, and have been bringing him on slowly since so he is only for sale to an experienced home who can continue his education. Sonny is ridden bitless but can be bitted, and is happy to walk and trot with a rider, and excellent to hack out in company. He has already been boxed out to the local woods with my other horse for a hack where he saw lots of screaming children, dogs, cars, people, ice cream vans and took it all in his stride. I do hack him out alone, but he can be a bit nervous due to his age, which I am sure will get better with more time and experience. I think he would excel as a happy hacker, a show cob or a driving horse. He is not forward going, but is straight off of your leg so I wouldn’t class him as a plod either – he is a happy medium! That being said, I could easily see him becoming a kick along in the wrong hands if nagged with the leg by an incompetent rider, hence why I will not sell to a novice rider or owner. His new home is very important to me and I do not want him bought as a project and sold on further. He really craves human attention and I really want him now to go onto a one on one home where he will be loved and fussed and given lots of attention. His new home will be vetted and I want the new owner to stay in touch and send me lots of updates and pictures. I would also love to meet up for hacks if you are local, so him and my other horse can be reunited. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information or to arrange a viewing.
