GENUINE VINTAGE SALT GLAZED 2 GALL STONE FLAGON ex Stockport Wine Merchant Vintage ceramic flagon used by Stockport Merchant to sell his wine. The top of the flagon is embossed with the following legend. G.E.LEIGH WINE MERCHANT 40 GREAT UNDERBANK STOCKPORT 2 GALL There is a slight chip on the neck and glazing cracks but sound. Victorian Stoneware flagon jug Glasgow wine merchant w/ original wicker basket

A beautiful and rather large (about 2 feet tall) Victorian stoneware flagon from James Murray & Sons Ltd, Wine Merchants Glasgow made by Grosvenor Eagle pottery (also of Glasgow) complete with the original wicker basket. A search of Scottish Post Office Directories shows this business as being active in the 's and through to the turn of the century. The flagon has a chip to the rim, the cork isn't original and the bottom of the wicker basket is falling out but none of these minor defects detract from the highly decorative qualities of this lovely piece of commercial heritage. Pair of salt glazed chimney pots and a large vintage stone planter for sale. The chimney pots are 38cm high and measure 34cm at the bottom tapering slightly to 28cm at the top. Both pots have slight nibbles out of their rims. The planter is 16ins in diameter and 9ins high.
