Letter written in May of and addressed to the French National Convention. The Prince of Conti protests against the confiscation of his personal property and against the arrest warrant received in April, a few months before the beginning of the so-called reign of terror. French text on four pages (two sheets)With certificate of authenticity (COA).Size: 17.5 x 22 cm approx.Good condition, with small signs of wear.¶ Louis François Joseph de Bourbon (Paris 1st September – Barcellona 13th March ) was the last Prince of Conti. Shortly after 14th July , having publicly opposed the ‘doublement du tiers’, he became part of those designated as enemies of the motherland by the revolutionary bands of the Palais-Royal.The National Convention issuedan arrest warrant against him on April that was executed the next day, and he was brought to Marseilles with other members of the House of Bourbon. Arrived at destination on 24th April, he was incarcerated at Fort Saint-Jean. He was released on 25th June of the following year after many petitions addressed to the Convention. Read More

He was the greatest painter of military uniforms in Italy in the 19th century. At the time, photography was still in its early stages and required bulky and unmanageable equipment. For this reason an expert and skilled illustrator such as Cenni (who graduated from the Academy of Breda with an award for lithography) had ample opportunity to be employed in the illustrated magazines that were emerging in Italy in imitation of similar foreign magazines.
