Vintage Mason & Hamlin harmonium/reed organ

Mason & Hamlin Domestic reed organ/harmonium Supplied by Metzler & Co. of Great Marlborough Street Believed late 19th century Large single-manual Mason & Hamlin domestic reed organ in dark wood with stylised flower/leaf carvings. 5-octave keyboard from F to F, with two knee swells. This organ has thirteen stops: in order, Diapason Dolce, Sub Bass, Aeolian Harp, Diapason, Viola, Viola Dolce, (Vox Humana), Seraphone, Flute, Melodia, Voix Celeste, (Octave Coupler), Melodia Dolce. All are in working order, as are all the keys (although the vox humana doesn't have much effect unless you pedal flat out!) The sub-bass octave is pretty impressive for such a relatively small instrument. It evidently had a lid over the keys when new, but this was missing when originally acquired. The carpet covering on the pedals is the Victorian original - now somewhat worn. It was restored to full playing order about 20 years ago with repairs to reeds, leather etc., but the owner has now moved to a small cottage in Cumbria and needs to find it a good home. There are handles at either end to help with transport (see photos) but it is extremely heavy; probably requires two strong men to move it. A useful booklet from on the care and maintenance of the reed organ (and suggested combinations of stops for different purposes) is included with the instrument (originally obtained via the Musical Museum in Brentford). Dimensions Height: 109cm Length: 120 cm along the top excluding handles, which total another 12 cm or so. Depth: 54 cm Condition Generally good cosmetic condition. It has not been repolished or restained, and the carpet on the pedals is original. There are minor scratches to the surface and a screw hole in either corner of the top where some fitment has been removed (candle holders?). There are also screw holes where the lid should be attached, and an open recess in the front where it should be stored. All the reeds sound and no keys stick.
