Great wash illustration, published in the book “La Légende de St Julien l'Hospitalier” by Gustave Flaubert, published by GargantuaOn large sheet of paper, 23 x 31 cmThis work of unusual energy features a group of animals, and there is no doubt that René <strong>Folletstrong> was inspired by his friend Frank Pé for this composition.The artwork is remarkable, beautifully and incredibly delicately rendered. The black and white colouring accentuates the fine detail of the animals’ coats. This is the 7th illustration in the book, and by far the finest and most carefully crafted. There are various notes written in soft-lead pencil on the sides.The artwork is signed and in very good condition; the paper is very thick: 300 g Size of the sheet of paper: 23 x 31 cmand it has no folds or creases.
