Fresh Start for Hens (Melton Mowbray) will have rescue hens available for rehoming on Sat July 22nd. These girls will be 72 weeks old, which is much younger than their natural life span. They're no longer required by the egg production sector so are due for slaughter. We buy them from the egg producers and rehome them into environments where they can live out the rest of their natural lives. Most will continue to lay for many months and will become confident little pets who are happy to be handled (note the pic of one on my lap!) Rescue homes wanted for ex commercial hens

We are now taking bookings for our next batch of free range hens collections to start on Friday 3 February. We have ISA brown at £2.50 each and white star at £3 each. We have reared all our hens from day old, they are happy and healthy and still laying. Some have feathers missing but they will soon grow back. Read More
