Classic Tri-laminated English Longbow and Arrows and

A rare opportunity to acquire a classic 6ft English tri-laminated longbow. It has a right handed draw Its draw weight is 46 lb Its draw length is 28" The BELLY is crafted from Lemonwood - The main reason for using lemonwood is for its high resistance to compression forces without displaying any fretting or cracking. The BACK is crafted from Hickory - The main reason for using hickory is for its strength and high resistance to elastic forces. Another reason for using hickory is that it is generally has a straight grain with very few knots or defects. The CORE is crafted from bloodwood (satine) - Used for its stiffness and stability. It has also been used due to its hardness, strength and striking colouration. The STRING is a waxed double loop made from tire line and has 12 strands. It has been fitted with a woven leather grip and buffalo horn nocks. Also supplied are 19 quality white pine arrows 6 of which have hunting arrow tips. Also supplied is a bow stringer, a leather armguard and an adjustable leather finger tab guard. An arrow bag and longbow case are also supplied. If you have been thinking about taking up archery then this bundle will be just right.

  Yew Warbow / Self Yew English Longbow -

TRADITIONALLY MADE ENGLISH YEW WARBOW / YEW SELFBOW WITH SIDE -NOCKS Bowlength between nocks - 80" Drawweight: 132lbs @ lbs @ 32" This Warbow is made from a great stave of English yew with just one medium sized knot and a few pins, the wood is dense and at 6' 8" nock to nock and 1 3/4 inches at the centre this is a BIG warbow with proportions similar to the very largest bows found on the Mary Rose. The bow is fitted with handmade horn side-nocks similar to those on the the Mary Rose warbows, and not commonly found on yew longbows available today: This is a very rare chance to buy a heavy draw English yew warbow made in the same way and to a similar design as Tudor / medieval warbows. The bow is hand made from a single yew stave cut in Wessexin . It is a medieval type English full compass longbow (the bow bends along its entire length), as did the bows found on the Mary Rose. All my bows are made in the traditionalway from staves split out of coppiced yew, which means that the stave is spilt along theline of the grain in the same way that it was done in the medieval period, (notgone off the line or across the grain as can be the case with staves thatare sawn out of logs as most are today) so producing an authentic and moreresilient bow. You can see the natural dips and curves in a bow made from asplit stave where the split has followed it's own route around knots and otherimperfections in the log. (This bow is NOT made from two billets of wood and joined at the handle, with the join hidden with a hand grip like some yew bows you can buy). All my bows are individual and totally unique! The cambium is present on the back of the bowdemonstrating that the sapwood layer is also completely intact and that it hasnot been worked down, which makes for a stronger bow, and in addition thecambium is resilient layer which helps protect the softer sapwood from wear anddamage (if the sapwood becomes damaged the bow will be weakened). Modern yew selfbowsdo not normally have the cambium left on so this positive attribute is anunusual feature (many of the bows recovered from the Mary Rose hand the cambium intact). This bow is aligned for a right handed archer, but can also be used by a left handed archer. The bow is protected with four coats of Danish oil. This bow has individual hand made horn sidenocks with an upper stringing groove and comes with a Fastflight Flemishstring with loop and bowyers knot and a para-cord stringer. A leather hand grip can be fitted for a small charge ifrequired. Longbow String

This purchase is for 1 hand made Flemish twist Dacron B50 longbow string. We custom makes strings for all of our own bows, as well as for customers wanting replacement string for their longbows, recurves and flatbows. These strings are finished with two Flemish loops, which aesthetically is a very clean finish, as well as being much easier to adjust the brace height if necessary. The alternative is a string with a bowyers knot at the bottom, which is preferred with traditional archers but more difficult to set right, especially for archers with little or no experience. These strings are made with Dacron B50 made by Brownell and Brownell. This material is ideal for longbows because it is a softer material and has more flex than other string material such as fast flight. Most bowyers will recommend Dacron for use on longbows, with the exception of high performance bows which may be better with Fast Flight material. We use black and white, and 'candy' twist them. We make them with a total of 14 strands of Dacron, which is suitable for longbows up to 80lbs draw weight. The reason that we make them 14 strand is simply that its a good all round string, but the diameter of the string is perfect for classic nocks, without the need to build up your string, which again is therefore easier to use for archers with little experience. Every string is also served at the middle to protect the string from wear. We pre-stretch the strings by stringing a bow with them while we serve the centre for you. We then double check the length before it is shipped to you. When you first string the bow, some stretch is normal, and can be easily sorted out by adding additional twists into the string. To do this, de-brace the bow, and slide the string down the top limb a little further than normal. Switch hands and remove the bottom loop (but keep hold of it). Because the top loop is still on the top limb it is easy enough to add twists. If you still feel unsure because you are not sure if you are adding or taking off, lie the bow down on the ground, and with your free hand nip the string about 12" from the bottom loop. As you are twisting the string it is much easier to see the effect of what you are doing. IMPORTANT! The measurement you need for one of these strings is the length of the bow, nock groove to nock groove, running the tape measure down the back of the bow. It is not the actual string length. If you are unsure and would prefer to supply your actual string length, please get in touch before purchase so that we can be sure that the right string is sent to you.   Longbow - Snakewood & Bamboo

This beautiful longbow is around 3 years old, and has been shot by me at indoor tournaments,and has won me many medals. The bamboo started to lift on the bottom limb, as did the snakewood insert.. I sent the bow to a Master Bowyer (Adrian Hayes) and it has now been completely refurbished The draw weight of the bow is around 35lb at 27" and has been re-tillered to a max of 27" it has had a new insert of snakewood fitted to the bottom limb, and the back has had a full piece of bamboo fitted.It is "long from knock to knock. I have tried to show the full bow in the photos. please ask question if you are interested in the bow.
