Driftwood Sculpture #1
One of three that remain to be offered for sale, this is an arts and crafts-inspired, tree-type structure made from flotsam and jetsam driftwood mounted on a substantial hardwood base. The base of the structure, which measures 29" wide x 7" deep x 2" high at it's maximum dimensions, is made from a dense, hard-wearing hardwood (mose likely Iroko) sourced from stock made available following the replacement of sea defence groynes at Eastoke, Hayling Island in . This base has been drilled-through in two places to permit the mounting of an M6 threaded rod in the optimum positions for the required configuration of the base (see pictures 1 and 2). These holes have been countersunk on the underside of the base (see picture 3) in order that a nut which secures the rod to the base does not prevent the base from sitting naturally on any required surface. Onto the threaded rod has been mounted specimens of flotsam and jetsam sourced locally on Hayling Island. The threaded rod is topped with a butterfly nut, which, when used correctly in conjunction with the nut on the base, prevents the bottom of the rod from resting on the required surface, and a dome nut. The price is inclusive of packaging costs but exclusive of postage costs which will be detailed upon request. Read More
