Most guitar compressors are based on OTA circuitry, but T-Rex's NeoComp uses a VCA (as does the Boss CS-3), and is apparently modelled on the studio-grade Blackmer VCA. The NeoComp is capable of light compression up to a quite heavy squashing of your signal. The drop in volume can be compensated for with a gain knob that has plenty in reserve, and can really drive your amp if you want to use the pedal as a booster. Hi there, This is the sale of my Darkglass Super Symmetry compressor. This compressor is the best sounding guitar and bass compressor I've heard. I chose it because it doesn't tone suck, it's got an LED visual gain reduction meter... very easy to dial in the right amount of compression that isn't going to ruin the dynamics of what you're doing. Very good on subtle settings and on more extreme ones. I've even tried this on vocals when recording and as an insert send on a vocal in a mix within ProTools, very useful....
