this would be part of an old fashioned equestrian harness for pulling a cart or gear. it would have made up the part of the horse collar, generally used for heavier pulling. it is made up of a padded leather and wooden construction. it is in great condition, could be ornamental, or i'm sure could easily be renovated and looked over by those with a knowhow to be used in horse parades etc

As pictured, an old horse or cattle collar, very decorative would look good once cleaned up. I think its probably european as it is painted. As you can see the horse hair stuffing is falling out, so would need new fabric or remove it entirely and it would look good hung. Has leather strapping & wrought  iron work. Vintage pair of Horse Hames / Harness   These hames are made of wood possibly oak (but I’m no wood expert) with brass strips down the sides and brass rings attached.   The wood is varnished.   The hames measure roughly 36” in length. The solid wood pieces are in great shape. The wood is approx 2-2.5" wide x 1" thick.   The metal keepers, rings, and brackets have some surface rust, but it only adds rustic charm.   The metal Hames hooks have a Kangaroo stamped in to them. Please see pictures.   The leather straps at the top of the hames are in very good condition and has a brass buckle.   Overall they are good enough to use or if you would prefer they also display well, and would look great hanging inside or outside for décor.   Nice collectors’ piece.   This item can either be collected or you can send your own courier service to collect.   Cash on collection is preferred. Please be aware that this is a used item and so there will be some signs of wear, scuffs and scratches. Due to previous idiots not reading the description properly this item is COLLECTION ONLY. In good solid condition with just the inevitable historic worm holes that come with wooden items of this age. Would look fantastic hanging behind the bar or gracing the walls of a feature restaurant. One or two teeny holes to lining but outer fabric is intact.   Standard three point fixing to attach to rug, trigger clips to do it up around the neck. Not sure what make it is but I think it's either fal or weatherbeeta judging by the fabric pattern. Washed and reproofed.
