Hollow Mouth Eggbutt Horse Bit A single jointed plain hollow mouth bit with eggbutt sides and flat rings. The mouthpiece is solid and of medium thickness. The eggbutt sides prevent pinching of the lips. Acts in addition to the corners of the lips, on the tongue and the bars.   BIT’s All horses mouths and tongues are different and vary in size and type depending on your horse. MEASURING Mouthpieces or bits are measured in inches or centermeters.   This is dependant on the manufacturer of the mouth piece or bit.   To measure, straiten the   bit and measure from the inside of the loosering or cheek piece to the inside of the mouth. FITTING Bits should be adjusted so as to wrinkle the corner of the mouth.   There should be no more than ¼” (5mm) play on either side.

This bit is a 5" Happy Mouth mullen snaffle. It has been used and has an area on it which is slightly rough. This is a fixed cheek bit, this may be useful for horses that are a bit unsure of the bit as it doesn’t move around to much in the mouth, it should encourage the horse to stretch into the contact. An eggbutt bit would be less suitable if your horse is prone to leaning or taking hold of the bit. Thanks for looking!
