This handsome box measures 15cms x 10½cms x 4cms. It is lined with beige velvet and the lid is fitted with narrow holders for stickpins or hatpins (there is a little wear on these –please see the enlarged photograph 4). There is a matching velvet pad for separating the contents and the retailer’s name is tooled in gold on the interior rim. The left hand front corner is scuffed –visible on the enlarged photograph 2. You are bidding on a vintage jewelry box by R&Y Augousti of Paris. The box is covered by what looks like  a black reptile scale/skin and it has metal handle with carved skin like design to match the box. The box is made from wood that looks like Oak and has a inner removable black velvet insert.  The bottom as the brand signature and is written in gold but very hard to see. The box measures 5'' x 5'' x 2'' (4.5'' to top of handle).  The scales are still in great condition and it footed to protect the bottom.  This is a great find and nice addition to any collection.
