Dates approximately . FULLY LOCKS In WONDERFUL restored condition. No missing or replaced timber. Solid timber mahogany not veneered. Inlaid original keyhole escutcheon. Terrific box in great condition. I’M PRETTY SURE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Box retains the original lock, top catch and hinges. Supplied with a silk tassel and Victorian key that FULLY LOCKS the box. Instruction given once sold. YOU ONLY GET THIS TYPE OF QUALITY FROM US. Comprising a wonderful interior that boasts a later wooden tray finished to a superb standard that compliments. This has been relined in expensive plush velvet material of the highest quality, the same as the interior of the box. All the added dividers within the tray can easily be repositioned or removed if desired. The tray can hold many rings in an upright position. Underneath the additional tray and beneath the base of the box have also been lined in velvet to stop any scratches to other surfaces. The box is approximately 6.25" x 4.25" with a depth of from the top of the lid. The box is used and has the occasional small blemish which I've tried to highlight in one of the photos, but this adds to the overall character and appearance of this lovely jewellery box. The hinges are a particularly nice feature, too. The interior is of a pink velvety material. I always try to be as accurate and as fair as is possible in the description of my items. Lovely wooden box with mother of pearl inlaid into the lid. This is a puzzle box - it opens by sliding a strip of wood along the bottom to the left (see photos). However, the mechanism has become a bit loose and it can now actually be opened just by opening the lid forcefully. I think the slider could probably be fixed if the strip of wood along the inside was glued more securely - see photographs. With or without the slider it's a lovely jewellery box!
