I don't know a huge amount about this bit as it came with a pony we had and we never used it.  I believe it is a Cambridge Kimblewick and on research have found that it "offers a variety of pressure points: the port pushes against the roof of the mouth if needed, whilst allowing the tongue to move. The D shaped rings can function as lever arms if the reins are placed at the bottom and there is a hoop above the ring which accommodates a curb chain applying pressure to the chin and amplifying movement in the mouth" Its in very good condition with no scrapes or marks.
