The Chifney, also known as an anti rearing bit, is a horse bit designed for leading spirited horses and ponies. The Chifney attaches to a sliphead or headpiece, and has a single loose ring for the lead rope to attach to at the back of the horses chin. The thin bit with V shaped mouth will dig into the horses tongue should the horse try to rear or pull, and can be very effective. The anti rearing bit should be used with care as with any severe type of horse bit and is for leading only. Chifney bits are often only seen for sale in standard and large sizes, but they should be sized as any other bit, the same size as your horses normal bit size should be used to achieve correct fit. Chifney Anti Rearing Bit features: Used to lead strong horses, or those prone to rearing when being led in hand Bit strength: severe In hand use only.Used but in good condition. Chifney type bit for a miniature pony. Measures 4 1/4 inches inside so made for a very small mouth (probably 3 1/2 inch bit size max I would imagine). Has two squared off d rings to attach headpiece or there are also small leather straps which I think you could attach it to a headcollar with.
